Trying to maintain hope...

I'm struggling mightily right now. I have IBC which has metastasized to my liver. Just started treatments. My first diagnosis was in 2000. I don't seem to be able to access the coping skills I've used in the past. I'm sad and scared all the time.I shaved my head in solidarity with my daughter, who also has breast cancer.

  1. Thanks for reaching our and sending us a note. My heart goes out to you and it saddens me to know that you you are feeling this way. Is there an oncology social worker, or an equivalent, that you can speak to that might help you identify new coping strategies? What kind of things have worked for you in the past? I'm hoping some of our community members will chime in with some ideas for you and support. We're here to listen and hold your hand, even if it is from afar. Sending you much love and strength. 💙 Patty, Team Member

    1. hi there friend!

I’m glad you found us here. How are your treatments going right now? It is a really scary time, and it’s totally valid that you are feeling the way you are right now. I’m here to echo Patty’s suggestion of finding a social worker to help manage your care, and to help find mental health resources.

Sending you so much love today, and every day from here on out!

      1. So far, ok. But now I have covid. I'm in a nursing home, and it's rampant. I'm turning the corner, so it is hoped I won't have to miss my next treatment on the 8th. I do see a therapist, and I love her! Thank you so much for your kind words.

        1. such a beautiful photo! Thank you for sharing, friend. I’m glad you love your therapist, that can be hard to find!

      2. I've been living with stage 4 breast cancer for over 11.5 years. When it metastasized to my liver, I was also very scared. That was several years ago. Praying the doctors find the right medication for you that slows or stops the progression . Hang in there! Sending you lots of love, hugs and prayers!

        1. thank you for sharing your encouraging words here, friend!
