Are you feeling the stress of treatment costs?

We know that MBC treatments are about more than just medicine. They can also be very expensive. Between high medical bills, the cost of gas to get to the doctor, and missing work, the stress can add up. This is sometimes called "financial toxicity," and it can cause a lot of worry.

We want to hear from you: Have you ever had to delay a scan or miss a treatment because of the cost or travel issues? How are you handling these extra stresses?

Please share your thoughts or any tips you have for the community!

  1. I am 2 months out from a MBC diagnosis, without health insurance. I lost my job Oct 2024. Lost my insurance as well. In my late 50's and unable to find anything but part time work. My husband is in an industry that considers him self-employed, so I've always had to carry insurance for us. Do not qualify for Medicaid. And now I need at $18,000/month medication. How? How do we manage this? How does ANYONE manage this. Do I just die now?

There just aren't answers, and I don't want us to lose everything we've worked so hard for. So now what?!

    1. , that is a desperate feeling that I know all to well. Have you reapplied for Medicaid? I know it depends on your state, but there may be more receptive rules than when you first applied. If you know the name of the medication, you can seek a PAP (patient assistance plan). You may also find assistance at:
