Male Breast Cancer Is new. We all know it isn't. It has been around as long as female breast cancer. All of One Percent. Hidden. Not talked about. Ignored by doctors. In 1969, I led a team at Xerox Corporation and introduced xeroradiography, a leading process for the early detection of breast cancer. No mention of men. In an ironic twist in 1994, I was diagnosed with the horrific disease. In my research, there was no mention of men. The Silence was Deafening. I wrote a screenplay and asked Paul Newman if he would play me and awaken the world. He gently turned me down, saying, "No one would come and see it." Fast forward, and now we have 2022 and a Rod Richie, who has not only the determination and knowledge, but the technology at his fingertips to further awaken guys to this day who refuse to admit they are candidates, and to family doctors who on annuals don't check chests because we still remain one percenters. For the record, my college students doing research with oncologists found that the number might be as high as three if a concerted effort was made to get guys to include that part of their body.
