ASCITES

Hi all
Thank you for taking the time to read my question.

My best friend had breast cancer lobular 10 years ago, 5 years ago it went into her peritoneal lining.

It has been managed for quite a good few years with estrogen blockers & a chemo type tablet.

They have now stopped working and it is worse.
It is in no major organs or lymph glands but she is getting recurrent ascites it is malignant.

She has been put back onto chemo. Each time the markers start to drop but the ascites keeps coming back.

She is on her second kind of chemo which she has been tolerating really well. All markers dropped after 2 rounds but the ascites has come back.

I’m so worried as I read this can mean end stage cancer.

Has anyone experienced this and if so has chemo been able to get rid of it.

I’m so worried for her.

Thank you 🙏🏼

  1. Hi . I am so sorry that your friend is going through all of this; you clearly care very much for her, and she is lucky to have you on her side! Unfortunately, I don't have any answers for you, but I hope some of our community members with similar experiences will chime in. In the meantime, I can post this question on our social media page to see if we can get more eyes on it. Sending you both lots of strength and support. 💙 Patty, Team Member
