Remembering Vicki Thompson

We are incredibly saddened to share that AdvancedBreastCancer.net Health Leader Vicki Thompson passed away on September 6, 2023. We are thinking of Vicki's loved ones, especially her parents, partner, friends, and extended family. Vicki will be remembered and missed by all who knew her.

Vicki was an award-winning photojournalist who worked at the Silicon Valley Business Journal and Silicon Valley Community Newspapers for over a decade. While photographing big tech was not her dream career, she amassed an impressive portfolio.

After a diagnosis of stage 2B breast cancer (ER+, PR+, invasive ductal carcinoma), which later metastasized, Vicki turned to advocacy through her writing on AdvancedBreastCancer.net, which allowed her to stay in journalism while advocating for people on the same path.

Vicki was a metastatic breast cancer advocate in many ways. She shared her story and advice with our community through her writing.
